Today is the longest day of the year. At 12:38pm EDT the sun
is at the highest point. In ancient times it was believed that the sun stood
still at this day. Imagine the divine, magical impact that occurrence must have
had on our ancestors.
The summer solstice is therefore believed to be an exceptional
magical time. If you do work magick today, be assured it will be very powerful.
Given that the sun represents the male principle, this day
is a perfect time to enhance the energy, power and activity of your body, mind
and soul. You should use some sort of fire in your celebration or ritual for
this day since fire is of course reflecting the power of the sun. And by all
means we have today to generate power, we basically still rely on releasing
sunlight that was once “captured” by plants and turned into carbon by burning
it.
That in mind, in northern Countries, where Summer Solstice
Celebrations are still a widespread tradition, people jump a Solstice Fire for
good luck, success and wellbeing to “carry along” sun’s energy into the second
half of the year and ensure a plentiful time.
